Newsletter September 2nd - 5th

Math: In Math this week the students will work on lessons 11-13.  There will be a Test on Wednesday, September 3rd.

Reading: The students have found a problem and solution in their book.  Next, they will be working on the plot or action steps the characters take to get to their solution.

Art: Students need to have their rough draft drawing ready to go on Friday.  The students are creating digital flipbooks about a topic they have tried at failed, tried again and succeeded.  The whole year I encourage you to use the words how "Failure Leads to Success."  We can learn from our past mistakes. 
Library Days: Thursday is our library day.  Please help your student remember to bring their library books back Thursday morning.

Scholastic Book Club:  You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, September 26th.  Check out the catalog online.  Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog.  Happy Reading!

CCLS Elementary Curriculum Night 8/28 @ 7 p.m.


Parents please join us on Thursday, August 28th at 7 p.m in Friendship Hall at Webster Gardens Church.
Mrs. Leet will make a few introductions and have an opening with parents then you will move to your child's classroom.  There are two 15 minute sessions available for parents.  There will not be childcare provided so please make arrangements for your children.

Newsletter August 25th-29th

Math: In Math this week the students will work on lessons 7-10 and Investigation 10 and Test 1 Review.

Reading: This week we are continuing on the theme of Problem and Solution for our comprehension skills.  The students will be reading out of trade books from our school library as they work on this skill.

Art: This week the students are practicing how to make a digital flipbook on their iPads with the app: Flipbook HD.  Students will begin creating digital flipbooks about how "Failure Leads to Success."  We will talk about how we have to try again and again to finally have that successful 'aha' moment.  
Library Days: Thursday is our library day.  Mrs. Senske and Mrs. Headrick are working hard to get the library ready for the big opening the beginning of September.

Newsletter August 18th - 22nd

Math: In Math this week the students will work on lessons 2-6.

Reading: The students did a wonderful job sharing their favorite scenes from the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume.  We will be finishing up discussing the book with a Venn Diagram comparing Peter to the students and working on Cause and Effect.

We will also begin reading in their reading books the story "The Case of the Missing Lunch".  
This week we will focus on working on Problem and Solution charts with other picture books as well.
