Field Day Information/Teams

Field Day Information

Dear Parents,

On Friday, May 15, 2015, CCLS will have its Annual Elementary Field Day for grades K-4.

This day is designed for Christian fellowship, by incorporating fun teamwork activities in friendly competition. It is also a day to celebrate and give thanks to the Lord for a blessed school year as it comes to a close.

Please read the following guidelines in order to help our day run smoothly.

1) What your child should wear: -Assigned color T-shirt: Children will be divided into color teams. If at all possible, please have your child wear a shirt of the assigned color shown on the class list attached, and acceptable to the CCLS dress code for Casual for a Cause day. It is not necessary to purchase a new shirt for this day. Your child can simply wear any shirt of that color that you already own. If you don't have the assigned color, your child could just wear a white or gray shirt. If you would like to purchase one, craft stores carry them at reasonable prices. Also, a change of clothes might come in handy, since the children may get wet during water related activities. - Athletic shoes: NO CROCS OR SANDALS. The children will be playing outside, or in the gym if it rains. - Hats and caps are acceptable, and sunscreen is encouraged because the children will be outside for morning and afternoon activities (weather permitting).

2) How you can help: - Volunteering your time: The children will be mixed with other grade levels on their color teams and will complete 6 stations of activities in the morning. This requires many volunteers. We will need at least 2 volunteers to help out with each of the 6 stations. A schedule for your child and directions for signing up are listed below. Please consider volunteering for one time slot. This day will only be successful if we have enough support. - Water bottle donations: - 4th grade families, since this is your child's last year, would you consider donating a 12 pack or 24 pack of 16.9 oz. water bottles? If you can, see instructions below.

3) Lunch: The children will eat their normal lunch in the gym. You are welcome to join your child. If you would like a school lunch, you can order it through Mrs. Whitney, no later than Thursday, May 14, or you can bring your own.

4) Ted Drewes: The K-4 teachers and students, will celebrate the end of Field Day with a Ted Drewes vanilla mini-concrete, in their classrooms after the afternoon activities. To help defray the cost, each child can bring $1.00 to their homeroom teacher, any time before Field Day. I will need to place the order by Friday, May 8. Please email me at nknost@att.net by that date, if you prefer your child to not have Ted Drewes.

SCHEDULE:
Completing activities on the field from 8:40 – 9:45: 1SSchmidt, 4th grade and Kindergarten

Completing activities on the field from 9:45 – 10:50 : 1 ASchmidt, 2nd grade and 3rd grade

Afternoon activities: 1:00-2:00 (no volunteers needed for this time)

VOLUNTEERS: The shift times allow for any questions on activity instructions and clean up, and are as follows: First shift: 8:30 – 9:45 Second shift 9:40 – 11:00

If you can help, please email Nancy Knost, nknost@att.net, the shifts you would like to help with by Sunday, May 10. The week of field day, I will email you the instructions to your station.

WATER BOTTLE DONATIONS: Fourth grade families, if you would like to donate water bottles, you can bring them in preferably on or before Monday, May 11, to Mrs. Whitney’s office.

******************************************************************************** Please email me, nknost@att.net, with any questions and/or to volunteer. Thank you in advance for your help and your prompt replies!

*Parents/family are welcome to join us, just to watch, take pictures, etc., for any part of this day. We had a blast in the years past and are looking forward to an awesome Field Day again this year.

Let's all pray for good weather!

In Christ,
Nancy Knost
