National Lutheran Schools Week

January 25-31 is National Lutheran Schools Week.  It is a special time during which, together with nearly 2,300 LCMS schools, we have a public opportunity to proclaim and celebrate God's work among us in Lutheran schools.

One of our major activities of the week will be several days of an Online Mission Trip to Latvia.  Lutheran Hour Ministries is providing this unique chance for us to learn about the people and culture of Latvia, as well as what our church is doing in that country to bring Jesus to their people.

Throughout the week our children will meet with their chapel family groups for special devotions and other activities.

All of the grade levels will participate in creating 50+ Bible Story booklets for Christian Friends of New Americans.  The children chose their favorite stories and added some of their best-loved things to do around St. Louis.

The elementary children are invited to participate in special dress days as part of our celebration.  Please help your student(s) make reasonable choices that would conform to a modest dress code.

Welcome Block Kids to CCLS

Lindsay Offermann is a part of the St. Louis Chapter 38 of NAWIC, National Association of Women in Construction.

Every year, they host an event called Block Kids to introduce children grades 1st-6th to the construction industry. On Friday, January 23rd, they are bringing this event to CCLS' 3rd and 4th graders.

Schedule of Events
9:00 a.m. Meet in Gym
9:15 a.m. Build Begins
9:55 a.m. Build Ends
10:00-10:20 a.m. Snack/Inside Recess
10:20 a.m. Return to Gym for Announcement of Winners

It is a timed event where each child will be given the same items to build a structure of their choosing. While they are building, judges from the construction industry will ask specific questions about their project and they will be individually scored. At the end of the event, prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners and then the winning project will be submitted to the Regional/National competition.  Every child will go home with their project, a t-shirt, and a good bag from the event.

Be sure to give a big Thank You to Lindsay Offermann for coordinating this event for our 3rd and 4th graders!  -- Thank you Mrs. Offermann!
