October 27th-31st

Math: In Math this week the students will work on Lesson 30, Investigation 3 on Area, and a test on Friday.

Reading:  Our theme this week is Electricity.  The main story from our reading book is How Ben Franklin Stole Lightning.  Students will be working on the Problem/Solution to a story.
We will be using books all year long from our online program Tumblebooks.

Pizza Hut Book It! Program is going on right now.  Students need shade in a pumpkin for each day they read 20 minutes in the month of October.  Please return forms to Mrs. Endorf by the end of the month for a coupon for a free personalized pizza from Pizza Hut!

Raging Rivers Reading Program
Each student who reads at least 150 pages will receive a free ticket to Raging Rivers Waterpark
Reading for a school assignment does not apply.  Students may read to themselves, to someone else, or have someone read to them to receive credit.

Reading:  Our theme this week is appropriately - Baseball! We will finish reading "Mighty Jackie: The Strikeout Queen".  Students will be working on Making Inferences and identifying the Author's Purpose for writing a story.   They will be reading short articles and working on a scavenger hunt to figure out the Author's Purpose behind writing a story.
We will be using books all year long from our online program Tumblebooks.

Field Trip to Missouri Botanical Gardens and Saint Louis Zoo

The Missouri Botanical Gardens were very welcoming.

The animals were so active today!

The kids were active too!


We learned about animals from the Bible at our zoo!

We will first read "Women Pick Up the Ball" then "Mighty Jackie: The Strikeout Queen".  Students will be working on Making Inferences and identifying the Author's Purpose for writing a story.  Next week we will be working with trade books from our online reading program Tumblebooks.

Art:  We are gearing up for our next art project.  We will be studying artist Louise Nevelson.  She finds 'trash-like' objects and creates a masterpiece.  Students will have the same opportunity after studying Louise Nevelson to create their own masterpiece.  In order to do this project we need objects found around your house, in a junk your, in dad or grandpa's garage, Hobby Lobby, etc.

Field Trip Monday, October 6th

Please keep an eye on the weather and dress your child accordingly.  We will be outside all day.
