December 16th-20th

Service Project: On Friday, we are visiting the Little Sisters of the Poor.  We would like to take a special gift for the people there.  We are making Christmas Tree ornaments from pasta wheels and sequence.
We are asking families to donate bags of pasta wheels or sequence.  Also, any individually wrapped candies would be greatly appreciated to make a treat bag for the people there as well.

All School Advent Worship Service: Monday, December 16th
Please arrive at Concordia Lutheran Church at 6:50 p.m. 
Students may wear a school uniform or a nice church outfit.
4th graders should bring their recorders to school Monday and to church that evening.  

Math: This week students will have a test on Tuesday and complete lessons 51-52.

Reading: We will finish the book, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.  The students have created a Google Site to post information about the book.

There will be a vocabulary test on Wednesday from the vocabulary words listed on the site.  There are also flash cards, games, and practice tests on the vocabulary found through the links.

Library Days: Each Tuesday the 4th graders are able to select two reading books of their choice. Please note that books need to be turned in by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Pizza Hut Book IT!  Read Your Heart Out!
From October - March your child will have an opportunity to fill out their Book IT! reading calendar saying they read 20 minutes a day.  When they turn in their form, they will receive a certificate to Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pizza for their reading achievement.
Find a good book and start reading!
Please continue to fill out your December calendar reading minutes!

See what students are learning in Music with Mrs. Killian.  Remember to have your child practice their recorder a little each night. :) 
Students will be playing their recorders during the Advent Service on Monday, December 16th.

Each class will compete to collect the most box tops for the school.  The box tops are collected and turned in for money used to support the school.

Newsletter December 9th-13th






KirkCare: CCLS will be collecting can food, cereal boxes, and personal care items for the food pantry in Kirkwood.  Items will be collected through Wednesday, December 11th.  Please bring items to the classroom.  Our goal is to raise 1,000 items to donate to the food pantry.  Thank you for any help!



      CCLS Middle School Basketball Game 
The 4th grade students will travel to the Middle School campus on Wednesday, December 11th.
They will have an opportunity to eat lunch, tour the campus with student ambassadors, and cheer on the Charger's Basketball Team.  Students are invited to bring cash for the concession stand that will be open during the game.   
We will have the students back to the Elementary campus around 3:15 p.m.  If you would like to pick up your student from the middle school please email Mrs. Brannan or myself.  Everyone else will arrive back at the Elementary campus for our usual pick up.

Art: This week students are learning about artist Henri Matisse.  They studied his artwork that he completed in the later part of his life.  Henri called this art work "Drawing with Scissors".  We completed one example in class and will work on another project this week.
