National Lutheran Schools Week Information and Classroom News

We thank God for the blessings He bestows on CCLS and for all Lutheran Schools around the world! Thank you for your continued prayers and support.  This week is known as National Lutheran Schools Week (or NLSW).

We will be having special dress days each day next week.  These dress days are optional.  Your child may choose to do the special dress event or to wear his/her school uniform.  Remember that we are doing our Jump rope for Heart events in physical education on Thursday, so be sure to wear/bring tennis shoes on that day.

Here are the dress-up day descriptions: (These are for our Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students.  The middle school students will have their own set of days.)

Monday:  Comfy day - wear your sweats, pjs or other comfy clothes.  No slippers, please.

Tuesday: Crazy hair/hat day

Wednesday: Dress up for Jesus Day (wear your nicest clothes)

Thursday: Favorite Team Day -  wear the jersey of your favorite sports team (school bottoms, please)

Friday:  100th Day of School -  Make a 100th Day shirt to wear on Friday Jan. 27th.  Attach or draw 100 things to a shirt to show off at our 100th day parade. (school bottoms, please)

Also next week, we will have the Backpack Oatmeal Challenge.  Our school will be collecting boxes of instant oatmeal with single serve packets to help hungry children in our area. This is part of Operation Food Search, where they send a backpack full of food home each weekend to needy children. The children return the backpack the next Monday to be filled again. Please send boxes of instant oatmeal any day next week. The class that brings in the most, will get a little Emoji to clip on their backpacks. Thanks for helping!! (P.S. The boxes of instant oatmeal are on sale at Dierberg's this week!!)

We will be celebrating in other ways with our chapel families as well as our homeroom groups.  Watch for the banners with 100 reasons for ... that will be displayed in our hallways.

Sunday, January 29th, is CCLS Sunday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  Their service is at 9:00 a.m. and you are invited to join us for worship.

Thank you to all our parents who are attending or helping with the auction this year.  We met our classroom goal and our class will have a free dress day in the future -- your child will be very excited! :)

Accelerated Reader is a program we use at CCLS to help with Reading Comprehension.  Students may use their login to check reading comprehension on their own books at home as well.

ART: Students created video projects that show how Failure Leads to Success.  This is a great point I like to use throughout the year.  When we fail at anything in life, we can use that experience to help us improve the next time and hopefully succeed in the future.  Enjoy the videos from their Seesaw Accounts or from this link: Failure Leads to Success

Students are currently working on Pablo Picasso inspired work using oil pastels as our medium.
