Reminders for the End of 2nd Quarter

As the second quarter comes to a close please help your child turn in any absent, late, or missing work in by Wednesday, December 16th.

Tuesday, December 15th, we will be traveling to the middle school for a visit day at 11:00 a.m. and to watch the 8th graders play basketball verse Immanuel St. Charles.  

Lunch will be at the middle school, they may choose to bring a home lunch or order a hot lunch there.
You have two options to pick up your child at the end of the day.  You may choose to pick them up at the middle school. You must email your child's homeroom teacher to have them stay at the middle school.  If you do not email your child's homeroom teacher they will be on the bus heading back to the elementary building around 3:35 p.m. 

Please remember:  

  • lunch
  • money for concession stand
  • email teacher if you wish for your child to be picked up at the middle school campus
Friday, December 18th, we will be visiting the Little Sisters of the Poor Home for a class service project.  We will be sharing Christmas carols with the residents there.  Students will also need to bring their recorders.  We will eat lunch at the nursing home.  Please have your student bring a home lunch or order a school sack lunch from their homeroom teacher.  They will also need a drink.  They will need to wear their school uniform on the field trip. They may bring other clothes to change for their Free Dress Day when we return.

  • Bring a bag of candy to make goody bags for the residents

End of Quarter Notes/Reminders

As the second quarter comes to a close please help your child turn in any absent, late, or missing work in by Wednesday, December 16th.

Monday, December 11th Advent Service at 7:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church.  This is mandatory for all CCLS Students K-8th grade.  Have them use the restroom before the church service.  Please have your child in the church at 6:55 p.m.   Remember to purchase baked goods made by teachers for you to enjoy!

Art: Students will be working on a western-style art project by making WANTED posters.  Later, the students will be writing Tall Tales about their character. 

Library Days: Thursdays are our library day please help remind your student to bring back all library books on Thursdays.

Save these Dates!

This jewelry gift boutique is a fundraiser for CCLS-Uganda and Crisis Aid (Monarch Jewelry). It will be a nice evening event for friends to come shopping for gifts, reasonably priced that support a cause. CCLS will have new Ugandan beaded jewelry along with Monarch's repurposed jewelry.

CCLS will also have booth at the LHSS Craft Fair on December 12th.

Newsletter November 9th-13th

Stacking Cups to help CCLS-U!!
Thursday, we will join over 600,000 children around the world having fun and helping to set a Guinness World Record for the number of people stacking for 30 minutes in one day.  It is a great activity and we would like to use it to help raise money for CCLS-U.
This year, each CCLS classroom has set a goal of $250 to help CCLS-U to continue to grow, educate children, and share Jesus.  We are asking you to sponsor your child in the cup stacking activity.  We will send pledge forms home on Friday in the student packets of graded papers.  Please ask your family and friends to join in the fun and help us raise at least $500 for fourth grade.  We'd love to top that number!!

Please return pledge forms by next week.

Art: Students will be working on a western-style art project by making WANTED posters.  Later, the students will be writing Tall Tales about their character.

This year, each CCLS classroom has set a goal of $250 to help CCLS-U to continue to grow, educate children, and share Jesus.  We are asking you to financially sponsor your child in the cup stacking activity.  We have sent pledge forms home on Friday in the student packets of graded papers.  Please ask your family and friends to join in the fun and help us raise at least $500 for fourth grade.  We'd love to top that number!!  Mrs. Killian introduced us to our girl this week.  It is great to put a face to our mission.

Reading: Students are working on Events and the Character's Reaction to events.  We will be reading "Rafting - Ready or Not" and "The Raft" this week.
Art: We are learning about artist Louise Nevelson.  She was a fantastic artist who repurposed pieces of wood and objects left for trash and turned them into sculptures of art.  Your student will be creating their own Louise Nevelson sculpture.  
We are looking for donations this week and next.

  • plastic pieces that can be painted
  • wine corks
  • metal pieces: screws, nails, nuts/bolts
  • pasta 
  • and many other random objects
