Newsletter October 6th-10th

Math: In Math this week the students will work on Lessons 22-25.

Reading:  Our theme this week is appropriately - Baseball! We will first read "Women Pick Up the Ball" then "Mighty Jackie: The Strikeout Queen".  Students will be working on Making Inferences and identifying the Author's Purpose for writing a story.  Next week we will be working with trade books from our online reading program Tumblebooks.
We will be using books all year long from our online program Tumblebooks.
Please take advantage of using Tumblebooks in your home too.

Art:  We are gearing up for our next art project.  We will be studying artist Louise Nevelson.  She finds 'trash-like' objects and creates a masterpiece.  Students will have the same opportunity after studying Louise Nevelson to create their own masterpiece.  In order to do this project we need objects found around your house, in a junk your, in dad or grandpa's garage, Hobby Lobby, etc.
Please ask if you need clarification on these objects.

Library Days: Thursday is our library day.  Please help your student remember to bring their library books back Thursday morning.

It's time for our Box Top collection, so get all those Box Tops and turn them into your classroom teacher.  Ask Grandma, Aunts and Uncles if they have any.  As always the winning class in each category will receive a classroom treat for collecting the most.  Remember, your BoxTops help fund the technology at our school!
