Newsletter October 28th - November 1st

Student Teacher: The new face around 4th grade is Ms. Peacock.  She is student teaching with Mrs. Brannan and I until Christmas.  She is completing her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education through Concordia University - Seward, Nebraska.  Please give her a CCLS welcome when you see her. :)  

Math: Students will review Monday and test Tuesday over lessons 1-25.  Then they will work on lessons 31-33 this week.

Reading: Our theme this week is traveling.  Students will work on finding clues to make inferences about characters in our story My Diary from Here to There.  We will have a test on Friday over vocabulary words from this story and we will review vocabulary words from Mighty Jackie
Vocabulary Words: muttered, gaped, legendary, fluke, insult, flinched, snickering, overheard, unions, opportunities, strikes, boycotts, border, and citizen.
Art: This week students will begin learning about artists Sonia Delaunay and how she used different circles and colors to express herself through artwork.   
 


Library Days: Each Tuesday the 4th graders are able to select two reading books of their choice. Please note that books need to be turned in by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Scholastic Book Club: You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Thursday, October 31st.  Check out the catalog online.  Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the ride side of this blog.  Happy Reading!

Pizza Hut Book IT!  Read Your Heart Out!
Book IT! Parent Letter - Please Read
From October - March your child will have an opportunity to fill out their Book IT! reading calendar saying they read 20 minutes a day.  When they turn in their form, they will receive a certificate to Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pizza for their reading achievement.
Find a good book and start reading!

See what students are learning in Music with Mrs. Killian.  Remember to have your child practice their recorder a little each night. :)

Save those BOX TOPS!
Each class will compete to collect the most box tops for the school.  The box tops are collected and turned in for money used to support the school.

December 20th - Little Sisters of the Poor/Crown Candy Field Trip, Christmas Parties, Last Day of Second Quarter
December 23rd-January 3rd - NO School, Christmas Break
