Newsletter November 4th-8th

Student Teacher: Ms. Peacock is student teaching with Mrs. Brannan and I until Christmas.  She is completing her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education through Concordia University - Seward, Nebraska.  She will begin teaching to the 4th graders while she is here.  Please give her a CCLS welcome when you see her. :)  

Math: Students will complete Lessons 34 and 35.  They will review Wednesday for a Test Thursday.  Then complete lesson 36 Friday.

Reading: Our theme this week is Bright Ideas.  Students will read about Thomas Edison and Ben Franklin.  They are working on the skill of identifying problems and solutions.  There vocabulary words this week are: hilarious, convinced, mischief, independence, (come in) handy, dizzy, whirlwind, nowadays.

Art: This week students will begin learning about artists Sonia Delaunay and how she used different circles and colors to express herself through artwork. 

  

 

Library Days: Each Tuesday the 4th graders are able to select two reading books of their choice. Please note that books need to be turned in by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Scholastic Book Club: The Scholastic Book Fair is at our school from November 4th-7th.  The next online book order I will place is before Christmas.  You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Wednesday, December 11th.  Check out the catalog online. Pizza Hut Book IT!  Read Your Heart Out!
Book IT! Parent Letter - Please Read
From October - March your child will have an opportunity to fill out their Book IT! reading calendar saying they read 20 minutes a day.  When they turn in their form, they will receive a certificate to Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pizza for their reading achievement.
Find a good book and start reading!

Please turn in any completed October Book IT! Calendars this week to receive a free pizza.

See what students are learning in Music with Mrs. Killian.  Remember to have your child practice their recorder a little each night. :)

Save those BOX TOPS!
Each class will compete to collect the most box tops for the school.  The box tops are collected and turned in for money used to support the school.
