CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION

This week we will explore the virtue of RESPONSIBILITY through the story of Joseph. Joseph's older brothers were trusted by God and their earthly father with the responsibility to care for their brother. Instead of being their brother's keeper, Joseph's brothers gave in to sin, failed to keep their brother safe, and sold him into slavery. Sometimes sin takes over and jealousy and hatred consume our hearts making loving everyone very difficult. As God's serving leaders, it is our responsibility to love and care for others especially when it's difficult to do so.
As you talk about this big point with your child this week, please discuss that it is our God-given responsibility to love others, reconcile with those who wrong us, and care for everyone even our enemies and those people we don't like.
What is your purpose as a responsible and loving child of God?

Reading: Students are continuing to work on Main Idea and supporting details with nonfiction stories about Our National Parks.  We will read A Prehistoric Park and Animals Come Home to Our National Parks.

Accelerated Reader is a program we use at CCLS to help with Reading Comprehension.  Students may use their login to check reading comprehension on their own books at home as well.

Art: Students will be creating a project that shows how Failure Leads to Success.  This is a great point I like to use throughout the year.  When we fail at anything in life, we can use that experience to help us improve the next time and hopefully succeed in the future.

Library Days: We have a new librarian this year, Mary Sullivan.  Please give her a kind CCLS greeting when you see her in the library. Our library day is always on Thursday.  Please have your student bring their library book(s) with them on Thursdays to renew or return.

Scholastic Book Club:  You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, October 21st.  Check out the catalog online.  Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog.  Happy Reading!
