CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION
God paves the way for us to do His work. We only need to take responsibility, trust He will prepare us, and continue to listen as we follow His call.
This week we will study the virtue of responsibility. Responsibility is God’s power for you to be accountable to Him and others.
God provides whatever we need to fulfill the call He gives us, even when we feel inadequate. As we explore this virtue, we will continue to study Moses and how he had to focus on God’s power instead of his own shortcomings. When we focus on our own abilities we might succeed for a while, but we will eventually burn out and/or give up. When we focus on God and allow Him to work in us and through us, God will provide everything! God will do the work, and we get to come along for the adventure! This week as you discuss this virtue with your child, asks yourselves this big question, “What signs would you need to believe you were ready to respond to God’s call?”
STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
The students in fourth grade are diligently preparing materials and practicing for the conferences that will happen on Thursday and Friday. You should have found a note in your child's report card with the time your family is scheduled to meet. Please encourage your student to do good work on this important project--but please do not ask too many specific questions or ask to read the material being prepared. Thanks for your constant support of our work with your precious child.
Your child should have brought their report card home on Friday. Please sign the envelope and return to your child's teacher as soon as possible. You will find your scheduled conference time in the report card envelope as well.
MR. ALEC SUAREZ
Mr. Suarez is a student at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He is spending 8 weeks in our fourth grade rooms learning a bit more about teaching. He comes to us very well prepared and enthusiastic about teaching and getting to know the children. Please welcome him with warm wishes--the children already adore him and regularly pray for him.

I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL in our classroom this year. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited math practice problems in thousands of skills. One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress! Your child's unique username and password are in their planner. You may download the app or use on any device's web browser to access the website. Please let me know if you need any help.

READING: Students are working on Student-Led Conferences this week. Please encourage them to work diligently on their presentations but don't ask too many questions before our meeting time. :)
Reading in our curriculum will resume after conferences.
Accelerated Reader is a program we use at CCLS to help with Reading Comprehension. Students may use their login to check reading comprehension on their own books at home as well. We will begin using AR after conference week during the second quarter. You may have your child login at home as well to take quizzes from stories they have read on their own.
ART: Students will be creating a project that shows how Failure Leads to Success. This is a great point I like to use throughout the year. When we fail at anything in life, we can use that experience to help us improve the next time and hopefully succeed in the future.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB: You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, December 9th. Check out the catalog online. Please use our parent code to log in and order your books. There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog. Happy Reading!
