Newsletter January 7th-10th

Math: This week students will work on lessons 51-54.

Reading: Students will work on their summarizing skills with main idea and detail.  The theme this week is, appropriately, Precipitation. We will read Let It Snow and Snow Flake Bentley.  We will have a short comprehension quiz with vocabulary on Friday.

Research Project: This project will take the place of a book report of the third quarter.
You will find all the information in these documents please read carefully and ask questions along the way.  I am excited to see what the students come up with!

Art: This week we will learn about the art of batiking.  Students will work be making their own batik banner for the snowy holidays.

Library Days: Each Tuesday the 4th graders are able to select two reading books of their choice. Please note that books need to be turned in by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Scholastic Book Club: You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, January 31st.  Check out the catalog online. Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is a link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog.  Happy Reading!

Pizza Hut Book IT!  Read Your Heart Out!
From October - March your child will have an opportunity to fill out their Book IT! reading calendar saying they read 20 minutes a day.  When they turn in their form, they will receive a certificate to Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pizza for their reading achievement.
Find a good book and start reading!  
Remember to turn in all December calendar minutes!

Save those BOX TOPS!
Each class will compete to collect the most box tops for the school.  The box tops are collected and turned in for money used to support the school.
