Newsletter February 4th-8th

Happy 10th Birthday Ava!

Math:  This week we will complete lessons 70, Investigation 7, have a review and a test over lessons 1-65.

Reading: Our theme this week is Great Plains Indians.  Our vocabulary words can be found on page 344.  This week the students will be reading Mystic Horse while working on sequencing events.

Your child should be almost done or finished with reading their book for the report.  Take this week to compile artifacts and begin the writing process for what they want to represent on, I suggest index cards, something small for them to refer to during their report.  Next week they should be practicing their report and put the finishing touches on their book report.
The book report must be in a box of any size for example a shoe box or a small Rubbermaid tub from the dollar store are easy options.  The book report will be given to the class by the student they will need to have written down what they want to say about their book, either on an index card or a piece of paper so they know what to say about each artifact.
Due Thursday, February 7th
Any reports turned in late will have an automatic 10% deduction.  Please have all reports turned in by Thursday.

Art: Students will begin artwork like the style of artist Claude Monet.  He uses water colors in artwork like "The Bridge" and "The Water Lilies".
