Newsletter November 5th-8th

Math:  We will complete lessons 38-40 with Test 7 on Friday.

Reading: Our theme this week is New Places, New Faces.  We will identify vocabulary words and begin reading "My Diary from Here to There."

*Book Report* The first book must be a John Newbery Medal winner.  The report will be due on Thursday, November 15th.  The students will have time to work on these during class with the computers.  They have a checklist of items that they will complete for the format of their book report.  Encourage them to start working on these at home as well.  I will be handing out the final copy of the book report format this week, it is also posted on MyKoob.

Kid Blogs:  Read how your child would pitch against the Home Run King, Babe Ruth on their kidblog.  Feel free to make comments too!

Art:  In art we began to draw a house.  Next week we will use what we learned about cool and warm colors to finish the house.

Character Development: The class shared what Peaceful Acts of Kindness they witnessed this week and hopefully continue to witness and act out.  We also tried a group activity of a human knot.  Some groups worked well together, others took a little longer but eventually were able to work together to untangle.

Chapel Buddies: Thursday fourth graders helped their chapel buddy make their own Luther's Seal on Reformation Day.

Scholastic Book Orders:  The book fair is coming to our school next week!  Monday, November 5th we will preview the book fair and make out a wish list.  During the week we will visit the book fair to make purchases.  You may also visit with your child before or after school.
