Newsletter November 12-16

Math:  This week we will start with Investigation 4A and 4B.  Both investigations will be focusing on tenths and hundredths and relating fractions and decimals.  Then we will begin with lessons 41-43.  If your child forgets a math homework sheet there is a link on the blog under helpful links.  I encourage them to keep some at home or extra in their binder in case they forget. :)

Reading: Our theme this week is New Places, New Faces.  This week we will read "My Diary from Here to There."  Thursday will be a review and Friday will be a test over the story.

*Book Report due THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH* All reports must be handed in during class on Thursday.  If the report is handed in after that date there will be a 10% deduction. We started in class working on the writing sections of the report, check their Google documents for the typed pages.  This is by no means the final copy, please review the book report with your child and help them with any editing corrections.  The book report template can be found in their Google Drive as well as MyKoob.

Art:  The students are working on and finishing their house made of cool and warm colors.

Character Development: This week we looked at the same situation but from two different perspectives.  We are trying to remember that people can see the same situation two different ways and feel two different emotions.  We did a role play in class sharing about the same event but  having two different reactions and knowing that we need to accept the other persons feelings.

Chapel Buddies: Thursday fourth graders helped their chapel buddy with an owl project that is hanging in their classrooms.

Scholastic Book Orders:  If you would like place a book order for a Christmas present please let me know and I can discretly give you order before or after school.  Our next book order will be due Wednesday, December  12th.
When you order online, use the Parent Code: J3CX6

See what the students are leaning with Mrs. Killian in music class.

Operation Christmas Child: All shoe boxes will be collected in chapel on Wednesday, November 14th.  Remember to identify your shoe box with a boy or girl label.  Do not wrap the lid on the box, a Bible story will be added to all shoe boxes before they are sent overseas. Thank you for donating to the children.
Check out Mrs. Brannan's blog for updates on memory work, spelling, and much more!!
