News and Notes for April 3rd-7th

MATH: In Math this week the students will have Lessons 79-80, Investigation 8 and a Test on Thursday.

Here is a great visual dictionary for Math Concepts: Math is Fun Visual Dictionary

I am pleased to tell you that we will be using a website called IXL in our classroom this year. IXL is a comprehensive learning program offering unlimited math practice problems in thousands of skills.  One of the best things about IXL is that your child can access it from home, so you have a chance to see your child's progress! Your child's unique username and password are in their planner.  You may download the app or use on any device's web browser to access the website.  Please let me know if you need any help.

Accelerated Reader is a program we use at CCLS to help with Reading Comprehension.  Students may use their login to check reading comprehension on their own books at home as well.

ART: Students created art work like Sonia Delaunay.

LIBRARY DAY: We have an outstanding librarian this year, Mrs. Mary Beth Sullivan. Please give her a kind CCLS welcome when you see her around the building.  Mrs. Sullivan spends time reading with our students each visit and helps them when selecting books.  Our scheduled Library day is on Thursdays.  Please help remind your child to bring their book back by Thursday each week.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB:  You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, April 21st.  Check out the catalog online.  Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog.  Happy Reading!
