Newsletter December 1st-5th


The CCLS Dinner Auction will be held on 2-21-15.  The "2-2-1-1-5 Classroom Challenge" is a chance for all CCLS families to participate, even if they cannot attend the event.  Each classroom that collectively donates each of the following will be awarded a "Free Dress & Popcorn Day" (for Elementary and Middle School Classes): 

2 Volunteers--2 Desserts--1 Auction Item--1 Table of Guests--5 Raffle Tickets

Parents can sign up to contribute these Challenge items, by classroom, on our Volunteer Spot "2-2-1-1-5 Classroom Challenge" site at this link.  We will post progress of each classroom in meeting the Challenge on our Dinner Auction Website.  The deadline for completing the Challenge is January 16, 2015If you have any questions about the Challenge, or the Dinner Auction in general, please feel free to contact Jen Pawlitz, Dinner Auction Co-Chair, or Erica Eggerding, Acquisitions Manager, at auction@ccls-stlouis.org.

Math: In Math this week the students will have a test on Tuesday and complete lessons 41-43.

Reading: Students will be working on the book The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson.  They will be working on comprehension questions and plot as we dive into this great book!

We will be using books all year long from our online program Tumblebooks.
Please take advantage of using Tumblebooks in your home too.

Pizza Hut Book It! Program is going on right now.  Students need shade in a pumpkin for each day they read 20 minutes in the month of November.  Please return forms to Mrs. Endorf by the end of the month for a coupon for a free personalized pizza from Pizza Hut!

Raging Rivers Reading Program
Each student who reads at least 150 pages will receive a free ticket to Raging Rivers Waterpark
Reading for a school assignment does not apply.  Students may read to themselves, to someone else, or have someone read to them to receive credit.

Art: Students are painting their sculptures like artist Louise Nevelson.

Library Days: Thursday is our library day.  Please help your student remember to bring their library books back Thursday morning.

Scholastic Book Club:  You may place book orders online through Scholastic Book Club through Friday, December 12th.  Check out the catalog online.  Please use our parent code to log in and order your books.  There is also a scholastic link to the Book Club page on the right side of this blog.  Happy Reading!

It's time for our Box Top collection, so get all those Box Tops and turn them into your classroom teacher.  Ask Grandma, Aunts and Uncles if they have any.  As always the winning class in each category will receive a classroom treat for collecting the most.  Remember, your BoxTops help fund the technology at our school!
