Newsletter April 7th-11th

Field Trip: Wednesday, April 16, we are going to the Sheldon Concert Hall and St. Louis Zoo.  We are only allowed 5 chaperons in the morning, however, we need many more in the afternoon.  We are working on a Biblical Animal Scavenger Hunt at the zoo after lunch and it would be more enjoyable and educational if we could have very small groups.  If you could join us just in the afternoon, please let me know.
Children will need a lunch and drink for this very exciting day. The cost for children is$15 to Mrs. Endorf.

Robotics Field Trip: Friday, April 25. we will journey to the Edward Jones Dome to watch the World Championship Robotics Competitions.  It will be so exciting to see complex machines which were built by students performing according to their design.  It will be very crowded there and for safety sake we need several chaperons to go with us.  We want very small groups this day, so if you can arrange your day please volunteer to help out.
Children will need a lunch and drink for this very exciting day. The cost for children is $5 to Mrs. Endorf.

You may pay Mrs. Endorf $20 for both field trips as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Achievement Tests:  Achievement tests are right around the corner-April 14-15, 21-22.  Because of the field trip on the 16th and the fourth grade presenting chapel on Maundy Thursday we will probably have to finish our testing the week of the 21st.  Both fourth grade classes are practicing for these types of tests during the weeks leading up to testing dates.

Please help your child to be prepared for our testing days by making sure he/she gets enough sleep, has a good breakfast, and brings a healthy snack.  We also need individually wrapped chocolate mint candy to share with the class.  We will be using our stacking cups, taking many breaks for healthy snacks and water, and give a mint chocolate treat before each test to encourage the children to do their best.

Math: This week students will have a test on Tuesday and work on some practice achievement questions.

Reading: The theme this week is Ants.  Students will work on describing a topic with detail while reading an information nonfiction story about the "The Life and Times of the Ant" by Charles Micucci.  Practice book pg.214-215 is due this week.
This year we are blessed to have access to Tumblebooks.
