Newsletter September 16th-20th

Math: Monday will be used as a review for a test on Tuesday.  Then they will complete Lessons 16-18.

Reading: We will continue to work with the theme "Our National Parks".  The students will be working on main idea and supporting details.  Also, we will be working on concepts needed to complete their book report.

Book Report: Students should have their mystery book selected.
Due: Thursday, October 17th
When reading their book, students should take notes on these items: main character, setting, conflict, supporting characters, rising action, connections, climax and resolution, and finally their personal review.  To find the notes page click here: Notes for Mystery Story
The final report will be typed in their Google Drive using a document I have created and shared with them.

Art: We are completing projects on how "Failure Leads to Success" with an animation movie using WeVideo.  If you are able to connect at home to the Internet have your student show you their progress on their animation.

Soon we will begin our Louise Nevelson project.  Great Job on collecting items for their Louise Nevelson artwork!  If you would still like to make any donations for this project here are a few more ideas: different shaped pastas are always a great find, wooden pieces of all sizes, nails, corks, and other random items.

Christian Character Development: In our study of Christian Character Development we discussed the history of September 11th and the effects on our country still today, 12 years later. We also discussed how Christians are able to find strength in God's word during times of uncertainty and turmoil.

Chapel Buddies: This week the 4th graders took time teach their chapel buddy about taking turns and following rules while playing a board game.

Library Days: Each Tuesday the 4th graders are able to select two reading books of their choice.  Please note that books need to be turned in by 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.
